What is Project Graduation?
Project Graduation is a gift from the parents of the senior class to the graduates. It is a fun-filled night lasting from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Graduates may choose from many activities including food, music, entertainment, games, and contests.
The event is a drug-free and alcohol-free celebration in an attempt to keep our children safe on one of the most memorable evenings of their lives. Since there is no state or school funding, the event is made possible through donations from the local business community, Idaho State Department of Education, Idaho Juvenile Corrections, Idaho State Department of Transportation and individuals.
The Project Graduation Steering Committee plans the event but relies on many parent and community volunteers to make the night a success.
The Beginning of Project Graduation
Graduation is a time of great fun and joy. However, all too often drug and alcohol related accidents take place on graduation night. In 1981, after 18 young people died on graduation night in one state alone, Project Graduation was started. Soon after the alcohol related accidents were reported, local parents, the PTA, MADD, and SADD started Project Graduation to offer students an amazing night of celebration in a safe environment. Since then the concept and parties have spread throughout the nation! Countless lives have been saved, while countless memories have been made. Join us in this remarkable endeavor by volunteering and donating. And graduates, don't miss your party-it is one great night that you will remember forever!
"I had more fun than I could have ever imagined! Sweet!"
